Manchester City won a fifth FA Community Shield after defeating Chelsea 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.
Sergio Agüero opened the scoring in the 13th minute before adding his second of the match, 13 minutes into the second-half to seal the victory for Pep Guardiola’s men and condemn Maurizio Sarri to a first competitive defeat in charge of Chelsea.
The Premier League holders started well and opened the scoring after just 13 minutes when Phil Foden found Agüero, who fired home into the bottom-corner of the far-post from the edge of the area – unchallenged. It was his 200th strike for the Sky Blues.

The west London outfit rarely threatened in the first half but went close in the 33rd minute, when 17 year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi cut-inside to fire an effort that Claudio Bravo parried away.
Four minutes into the second-half, City should have doubled their lead when Agüero latched onto Foden’s through-ball, he rounded compatriot Willy Caballero, but somehow fired wide of the near-post and into the side-netting.
In the 58th minute, the Citizens found their second when Bernardo Silva fed Agüero, who slid the ball home past Caballero, following a swift break after Hudson-Odoi lost possession.

Fourteen minutes later, Agüero had a good opportunity to complete his hat-trick when he latched onto Kyle Walker’s delivery with a volley that drew a good save from Caballero, who palmed the effort away.
Manchester City went close again six minutes later, when substitute Brahim Díaz surged forward before firing an effort into the side-netting from a tight-angle.
Seven minutes from time, Guardiola’s men went close to extending their lead when substitute Gabriel Jesus cut-inside to fire an effort that Caballero palmed away.
In the 88th minute, the Blues had a good opportunity to reduce the deficit when Ross Barkley’s teasing delivery looked destined to find substitute Tammy Abraham, but Bravo smothered the ball away.
Deep into injury-time, City could have made it three when Díaz found Jesus, who flicked the ball into the path of Silva, whose strike was blocked behind by Antonio Rüdiger.
The result meant that Manchester City won a fifth FA Community Shield.

  1. Bad day for Chelseafc and its fans.

The management have to make good signings else they'd incurs the wrath of losing quality players like Hazard, William etc... Cj
